“My mother invited me to attend services in the Universal Church. I just attended to please her, but I was not obedient to the word of God.
When I grew older, my peers pressured me into drinking alcohol and smoking. I often went out with them and we drank for the whole weekend. I went to clubs drinking on Saturday night and on Sunday morning, I went to the church. After the church service, I went back to drinking. I knew what I was doing was wrong, but I thought I was just having fun.
Because of my lifestyle, I always overspent my money. I did not even see where my money was going. I was always fatigued because I would spend the whole night in a nightclub. Although I had the company of friends, I felt lost and alone. I was emotionally drained and tired of that life. I disliked the person I had become.
I decided to that it was time to commit to God. I asked Him to help me to transform my life. I participated in a fast from entertainment because I only wanted to focus on my relationship with God. I surrendered my life to God. I prayed and sought the Holy Spirit everyday.
I am now a different woman. I do not drink alcohol nor do I smoke. I obey the teachings I receive in the church. I am very responsible. I no longer feel lost or alone. I do not need to go to nightclubs to be happy because my joy comes from having the presence of God inside of me,” said Phumelelo.
