Ill health robbed Newman of the normal life of a child because he had to spend most of his time indoors while his friends played outside.
“I was ill so much that I could not walk properly. I also had a constant headache. I felt like there was something strangling me at night during my sleep. My ill health made me feel like there was something wrong with me because I was the only ill child among everyone I knew.
I couldn’t play with my friends outside because I was bedridden most of the time and that depressed me. Sometimes my friends at school had to take me home because I could not walk properly when I was ill. I thought that I was going to die. My family took me to different doctors, but they couldn’t diagnose my illness,” said Newman.
He recalls the worst moment of his life when he felt he was being strangled inside a taxi while he was asleep.
“I felt like I could not breathe because there was something strangling me. I screamed and everyone inside the taxi was looking at me. I felt embarrassed,” said Newman.
His suffering ended when he attended services at the Universal Church.
“My friend invited me to the church and I came because I was desperate for help. On my first day in the church, I felt like a heavy burden was removed from my shoulders. As I continued attending services, I learned how to use my faith for my life to change,” said Newman.
He took part in the chains of prayer on Tuesdays for healing and on Fridays for his deliverance from evil spirits.
“After a year in the church, I was healed and free from evil spirits. I was able to sleep peacefully without feeling strangled. I am happily married and enjoy a healthy life with my family in the presence of God. I was blessed with a job as a health and safety practitioner. I am thankful to God for all the blessings He has given me, but the Holy Spirit is one of the greatest blessings I received in my life,” said Newman.
