Effort is the use of physical or mental energy

We apply effort when something is not easy to achieve and when it demands a lot of dedication and hard work.

Learning a new language, finding out how to drive a car or improving a professional skill are all activities which require focus and determination, because they do not happen overnight. There are things that you will need to do over and over again until your brain becomes accustomed to them, until you reach a level where you can do it naturally.

A new life demands a new mentality and that is where things will get pretty tough. After all, getting rid of negative thoughts is no easy task.

You will have to engage in mental exercise, the constant repetition of words, thoughts and actions that will always   tell you that you can achieve your dreams.  This demands commitment and discipline.

I need to insist on this once again. I know I have mentioned it already, but unless you start changing your mind, very little will change in your new year. After all, how can you have a new year if you do not renew yourself?

That said, your next step will be:

• Don't say negative things about yourself

• Don't observe the obstacles, but instead, see an opportunity in all the difficulties

• Don't doubt yourself

• Never give up, no matter what. If a door closes, look for another door.

These are just a few thoughts on what you can do when things don't look good.

Apply yourself today, tomorrow, next week and next month. This is the meaning of effort.

It is like taking a shower. You have it today, tomorrow and every day. Even knowing that later on you will be dirty again, you never give up doing this. You keep at it.

My conclusion:  If things go south, don't quit -- ever!

God bless you all
