Your best Teacher
Let me introduce your best teacher - Mistakes. When we make them, we sometimes see ourselves being taken to the end of the queue, right back to square one.
It's frustrating -- yes, very much so. It gives us a sense of loss, of failure, of insignificance.
Nevertheless, if you look at mistakes from a different perspective, you will see that they can coach you into becoming a better person. Needless to say, it would be better if we could avoid them at all costs, but life is not that simple.
Roy H. Williams once said: "A smart man makes a mistake, learns from it, and never makes that mistake again. But a wise man finds a smart man and learns from him how to avoid the mistake altogether."
You can be a smart man and learn from your mistakes or find a smart man and learn from him.
Looking back over 2017, you will see that there were a few things which could have been done differently and other things which you did not do, but which you should have done to make a great difference in your life.
So, sit down and analyse your actions, and for the year 2018, do things right. Bring aboard commitment and discipline. With Commitment, you will take your first step towards changing your life and becoming a better person. With Discipline, you will make it to the end.
All along you have had a few setbacks but when you thought all was lost, you made it! You are alive and that makes all difference.
"But for him who is joined to all the living there is hope, for a living dog is better than a dead lion." Ecclesiastes 9:4 (NKJV)
Therefore, it is time to take the most important step of your life, to surrender all you are, all your dreams, mistakes and bad choices, bad friendships and wrong counselling that you have taken and accepted and say to God: "From now on, it will be as You want, Your will and not mine!"
If you set your mind to seeking God wholeheartedly, He will without a shadow of doubt transform your life and your future.
Why not test this, at the very least? What else do you have to lose in this life? Up to now, you may have done almost everything, if not everything, other people have asked of you -- even things that have been useless, only to realise that again you have wasted your time. They were only using you and later on, rejecting and despising you, yet again.
God wants your life to be with Him, your everything -- not 99%, but 100%. He wants to be your guide, you mentor, your leader and through your life to show to the world, to this failing world, that there is hope for those who are willing to surrender their lives to Him.
This year, things can be different for you, just stay away from the mistakes you have made. And one of them was to do things in your own strength (read John 15). Listen to God, obey His words, stay focused. If things don’t go well, remember, everything works for the good of those who love God and this love means to obey and follow His instructions.
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
If you follow this spiritual advice, I guarantee you, it will be impossible for your life to remain the same. Impossible!
God bless you all
