Where is my honour
When we start our journey with God, we learn that He needs to be first in our lives.
Our decisions, choices, thoughts and actions must be in line with His words, no matter what. The first four Commandments show that besides God being the first, He also needs to be the ONLY one— before any other god, person or thing.
"I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. "You shall have no other gods before Me." Exodus 20:2-3
This commandment creates the watershed effect. It separates the genuine Christian from the illegitimate.
"A son honours his father, and a servant his master. If then I am the Father, where is My honour? and if I am a Master, where is My reverence? Says the Lord of hosts to you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, 'In what way have we despised Your name?'" Malachi 1:6
Can you see it now? If He is my father, am I not supposed to honour Him? In our culture here in South Africa, children will never start dinner unless the father of the house has arrived. No one will touch the drumstick of the chicken, for it belongs to the father of the house.
So you need to conduct a very simple self-evaluation to see if you do not need to make a change in your spiritual thinking. If you want God in your life and even His help to achieve your dreams, if you want God to back you up when there is a challenge, then you need to honour and respect God above all other things.
"… for those who honour Me I will honour, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed." 1 Samuel 2:30
Now, think! If you do not honour God, how is it possible that He is going to honour you?
This explains why there is so much prayer, reading of the Bible, so much going to church and yet your life remains small and defeated.
We are in the Campaign of the Valley of Decision and all of us are working to achieve what is imaginable, things that are great, but how are we going to get any closer to our dreams through faith if we despise the only One who can bring about victory?
If you want to walk with God and have communion with Him, the first step is to put God first. Honour Him and He will honour you!
God bless you,
