Mortar and pestle
"Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, yet his foolishness will not depart from him." Proverbs 27:22 (NKJV)
Foolishness is a state of mind which causes a person to make bad, wrong and ugly decisions in life. A person who is a fool is unable to act with prudence, responsibility and discretion.
Such behaviour has everything to do with the fruits of flesh as we read in Galatians 5. After all only fools would do those things and do them thinking they were right.
What is even more interesting is the comparison between grinding wheat or any other grain to its desired texture and trying to get the fool into a good state of mind, or hoping he will become wise — it does not work.
In other words, you can use the pestle to crush your kernels of wheat which can be made into a delicious meal, but crushing (chastening) a fool will serve no purpose. Thus, we need to work on having the Holy Spirit. Only He can make the new birth happen, for it is the only way for a fool to become teachable. Other than that, all that is left is frustration. Frustration because we have to see people making the wrong choices and the more we talk to them the worse it becomes.
Should God should use a mortar and pestle, or perhaps it's better to say, should God allow trials and tribulations to come your way, do not despair. God wants to prepare you to serve Him, to become a better servant. Therefore, it will be up to you to decide whether to stay in and allow God to do His work or jump out.
We need to grind the wheat to make a tasty bread as much as God needs to remove our foolishness and add to us His wisdom. The Holy Spirit is willing to do His job, but are you willing to listen to Him?
God bless you all
